A unique estate
in the heart of the Périgord Noir
From ‘Camping Périgord Vacances’ to ‘Les Cabanes de Jeanne’
THE START OF A WONDERFUL ADVENTURE
In 1965 Alban’s grandfather Philippe Hamelin, known as ‘Didi’, his wife and their six children arrived in the Périgord and set up a holding to rear pheasants. They then established a campsite business at the farm - and that was how the ‘Camping Hamelin Périgord Vacances’ campsite was born.
In 2004 Alban’s parents, Charles and Béatrice Hamelin and their family of four children took over the campsite business. In 2011 they decided to take the business in a new direction and created ‘Les Cabanes de Jeanne’, named after the family’s youngest member: this led to the construction of six treetop cabins and four round cabins. The campsite business still exists, although it is now more nature-orientated through, for example, its membership of the Via Natura association (https://www.la-via-natura.com/)
Alban joined the business in 2014, his head full of ideas, and - together with his wife, Raphaëlle - took over the management of the site in 2020. Today they are continuing this adventure, one you too will soon be a part of…
SWIMMING POOLS AND OTHER SPORTING ACTIVITIES
At ‘Les Cabanes de Jeanne’
It’s impossible to be bored in the Périgord Noir. Enjoy sporting, cultural or recreational activities either on site or in the surrounding area.
- Two swimming pools and a paddling pool - available from June to September. The little water slide will delight your younger children (under your supervision)
- Table tennis tables - Long games of singles or doubles will hone your competitive instinct. Balls and bats are available for your use.
- Trampolines - Have a workout by jumping on one of our three trampolines (from June to September).
- Volley ou badminton - Notre terrain de Volley ou de Badminton selon votre convenance saura consolider votre esprit d’équipe.
- Pétanque and Möllky - Between two dips in the pool, come and play a game of pétanque, the national sport in the South of France, or Möllky; a Finnish version of pétanque that is much-loved in the Périgord Noir.
- Jogging - All you need is a good pair of trainers and off you go… A short circular route around the estate or, for the more adventurous, a forest route in the shade of the trees.
ACTIVITIES AT THE ESTATE
Get closer to nature
- Games area - Under your supervision, let your children do what they really love: climbing, sliding and running.
- Wooden games - Once a week from mid-July to mid-August, old-fashioned wooden games are offered for long and lively evenings.
- Nature activities - From mid-July to mid-August, take part in the few activities offered for adults and children
- Animals - When you come to ‘Les Cabanes de Jeanne’ you can’t miss the two jennies, Iris and Violette, our little chicks and - last but not least - Loupiot the horse (and elder of the group)! Don’t hesitate to go and see them, they love it! Careful though: the animals are all very gentle but children must be accompanied at all times.
